Which country was first to adopt a men's health policy?
Ireland, in 2008. Its National Men's Health Policy 2008 to 2013 is recorded by the WHO European Observatory as the first of its kind in the world.
Brazil followed in 2009 with PNAISH, and Australia was third in 2010. The sequence matters because it shows the idea is two decades old at national level while remaining absent at the international one.

Does Australia have a national men's health strategy?
Yes. The National Men's Health Strategy 2020 to 2030, launched in April 2019.
Australia was the third country to adopt one and is now on its second decade-long strategy, which makes it the longest continuous national commitment of this kind.

Does England have a men's health strategy?
Yes, since 19 November 2025. Men's health: a strategic vision for England was England's first, published on International Men's Day.
It carries 3.6 million pounds over three years for suicide prevention among middle-aged men. Health is devolved, so it covers England rather than the United Kingdom.

If countries can do it, why can't the UN?
No document has been found in which the question was put and answered. What the record shows is a 2004 acknowledgement addressed to every entity in the system, which is to say to none in particular.
This is the part the campaign is careful about. The absence of a decision is not the same as a decision against, and this site does not claim to know why nothing followed. It claims only that nothing followed.

How much does Norway give to UN gender equality work?
About 690 million kroner for 2026: 100.3 million to UN Women and 589.6 million to UNFPA, described by the government as among Norway's most important partners on gender equality.
The figure is included here because it is the clearest illustration of the asymmetry at national level. There is no equivalent UN agency for men and boys for Norway or anyone else to fund.
